It is a remake of Wes Craven‘s 1984 film of the same name and a reboot of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. Produced by Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes, the film is the ninth installment in the series. The film is set in a fictitious town of Ohio and centers around a group of teenagers living on one street who are stalked and murdered in their dreams by a disfigured man named Freddy Krueger. The teenagers discover that they all share a common link from their childhood that makes them targets for Krueger.
A Nightmare on Elm Street was originally to follow the same design as Platinum Dunes’ other remake, Friday the 13th, where the writers took the best elements from each of the films in the original series and created a single storyline with them.
A Nightmare On Elm Street 2010 Movie – Storyline :
Death stalks the dreams of several young adults to claim its revenge on the killing of Freddy Kruger. Chased and chastised by this finger-bladed demon, it is the awakening of old memories and the denials of a past of retribution that spurns this hellish vision of a dreamlike state and turns death into a nightmare reality.

Anyone who’s seen the original will agree this was an awful money making remake of a classic horror which could have been amazing but it just wasn’t…
After Remake on Elm Street, Platinum Dunes is seemingly out of horror franchise fodder. Almost all of their remakes have been critically lambasted, but most of them managed to be profitable. I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that they plan to shell out as many sequels as the original franchises generated, but I’d prefer that action since it would keep them busy and off of more esteemed films.
