If you wish the good filmmakers of the black and white era like Bresson and Bergman you’ll enjoy ‘First Reformed’ as you’ll see direct influences from Diary of a rustic Priest and Winter Light here.

Made for the 2018 audience, it is a dark character study almost like what Schrader’s wiped out Taxi Driver before. I enjoyed it for what it’s and therefore the overall slow-burning narrative.
